Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has announced that he is “wholeheartedly” endorsing President Donald Trump for the 2024 general election.
During a Tuesday appearance on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Johnson declared that he is “all-in for Trump.”
Johnson said:
“I have endorsed him wholeheartedly.
“Look, I was one of the closest allies President Trump had in Congress.
“He had a phenomenal first term.
“Those first two years, as you all know, we brought about the greatest economic numbers in the world and not just the country because his policies worked, and I am all-in for Trump.
“I expect he will be our nominee, and he will win it, and we have to make Biden a one-term president.
“We have to do that.”

Trump had not officially endorsed Johnson when he became the Republican Party’s fourth nominee for speaker last month.
Johnson eventually came out on top after a scramble to replace ousted Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
But Trump gave what he called a “strong suggestion” to “go with the leading candidate, Mike Johnson, & get it done, fast!”
Trump has dominated the 2024 Republican presidential field, meanwhile.
However, it is unusual for a party’s leader in Congress to publicly endorse a candidate this early in the race.
The speaker is backing Trump before the first primary vote has been cast.
Johnson also endorsed Trump in 2020.
He also supports Trump’s concerns about the results of the election.
Johnson led a Supreme Court brief signed by more than 100 other House Republicans in support of a Texas lawsuit that aimed to discount the election results in key states that Trump lost.
