Stacey Abrams Snubs ‘Toxic’ Joe Biden in Georgia

Democratic Party operative Stacey Abrams has turned down Democrat President Joe Biden’s offer of help for her latest run for Georgia governor.

Longtime Democrat hack and Clinton money man Terry McAuliffe embraced Biden in his attempt to keep Virginia blue and win the governor’s seat for a second time.

It backfired, however.

It appears as though Abrams is not about to make that mistake and will snub Biden instead.

Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams will not attend the voting rights speech by President Biden and Vice President Harris today.

She blames a scheduling conflict.

If Joe Biden was popular she would be there.

If Biden could even deliver on voting rights she would be there.

But Biden is unpopular and Joe Manchin and Sen. Sinema will not break the filibuster so Biden’s speech is just air.

It is political theater.

Abrams knows there is no upside standing next to an unpopular president on a losing issue but a huge downside.

You should expect to see Biden get snubbed across the country as the midterms heat up.

Abrams said on social media:

“The fight for voting rights takes persistence. As MLK exhorted, ‘The clock of destiny is ticking out. We must act now before it is too late.’

“Thank you, @POTUS, for refusing to relent until the work is finished. Welcome back to Georgia where we get good done.”

“There’s bad, and then there’s ‘Gubernatorial candidate in a state you carried cancels on you’ bad,’” Ben Williamson, an adviser for former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows said.

Matt Whitlock, a Republican communicator, said: “Still can’t get over this.”

“How toxic does Biden have to be for Stacey Abrams to be like ‘ah sorry I have other plans’ for an event about her *signature issue.*”

“The president will forcefully advocate for protecting the most bedrock American right, the right to vote and have your voice counted in a free and fair and secure election that is not tainted by partisan manipulation,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.

From The Hill:

Biden and Harris will travel to Georgia on Tuesday to speak about voting rights as they seek to push Democratic-backed legislation — the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

The White House said when announcing the speech that Biden and Harris plan to “speak to the American people about the urgent need to pass legislation to protect the constitutional right to vote and the integrity of our elections from corrupt attempts to strip law-abiding citizens of their fundamental freedoms and allow partisan state officials to undermine vote counting processes.”
