Ted Cruz Fires Back at Liz Cheney, Says Trump ‘Shattered’ Her: ‘She Has Become a Liberal Democrat’

Republican Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has fired back at outgoing Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), saying that President Donald Trump “shattered” the Wyoming lawmaker and turned her into a “liberal Democrat.”

Speaking on his podcast, Sen. Cruz said: “There are some people who Donald Trump just broke.

“They hate Trump so much that their mind went on the fritz.”

He added that Cheney has become politically “unrecognizable” and acts like “a left-wing Democrat.”

Cruz reminded his listeners that it would have been “ludicrous” to say that about Liz Cheney just a few short years ago.

“Then Trump came into power, and her mind just shattered, she has just become a liberal Democrat,” Cruz said.

“Cheney’s circus act on the January 6th Commission is indistinguishable from what Nancy Pelosi would say.

“It’s indistinguishable from what Chuck Schumer would say.”

“The reason is simple: she doesn’t represent the people of Wyoming anymore,” Cruz said of Cheney’s crushing primary loss to Trump-endorsed challenger Harriet Hageman.

“The people of Wyoming are conservative, and she has decided she is a Washington D.C. left-wing Democrat now, so it’s completely unsurprising.”

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) on Sunday said it would be “very difficult” for her to support Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) or Ted Cruz (R-Texas) after they objected to Electoral College votes on Jan. 6, 2021.

Cheney told ABC “This Week” co-anchor Jonathan Karl that both Ivy League-educated senators “know better.”

“Both of whom know exactly what the role of Congress is in terms of our constitutional obligations with respect to presidential elections, and yet both of whom took steps that fundamentally threatened the constitutional order and structure in the aftermath of the last election,” she said.

“So in my view, they both have made themselves unfit for future office.”

In response to Cheney’s ABC interview, Cruz said on his podcast that is a “badge of honor” to be on her list.
