A Texas man has used a tracking device to find his stolen truck before killing the man suspected of stealing it.
Police in San Antonio said the truck owner caught up with the man who allegedly stole his vehicle after tracking the thief with an Apple AirTag.
After locating the truck, the man then shot the crook dead.
The San Antonio Police Department said the incident happened on Wednesday.
The shooting took place on the city’s southeast side at a shopping center, according to KHOU.
The truck’s owner used an Apple AirTag tracking device to find where the truck was located after it was stolen.
Officials said that they received a stolen vehicle report around 1 pm on Wednesday out of a home in north San Antonio.
Police said that the truck’s owner tracked the vehicle’s location to nearly 20 miles from where it was stolen.
Officials said the thug wasn’t aware that the stolen vehicle was being tracked.
Authorities found several bullet casings and two cars with their windows shot out.
Officials are determining if the truck owner will be charged in the fatal shooting.
Officer Nick Soliz said that people shouldn’t take matters into their own hands if their car is stolen.
“If you are to get your vehicle stolen, please do not take matters into your own hands like this,” Soliz said.
“It’s never safe as you can see by this incident.”
