Fox News is on a hot streak and finished April as the most-watched basic cable network among both total day and primetime viewers.
MSNBC and CNN had a brutal month with ratings as bad as President Joe Biden’s poll numbers.
“The Five” continued to dominate cable ratings finishing April as the most-watched show on cable news with 3.5 million viewers per night. The discussion program has now topped cable news in four of the past five months despite not airing in primetime.
Fox News averaged 1.5 million total viewers to finish as the only network to surpass the one-million viewer mark. No. 2 MSNBC averaged only 668,000 viewers. But the most terrifying stat for CNN and MSNBC was that the top 12 shows in cable news were all on Fox News.
“Tucker Carlson Tonight” averaged 3.4 million to finish second, followed by “Jesse Watters Primetime,” “Hannity,” Special Report with Bret Baier,” “The Ingraham Angle,” Gutfeld!,” “Outnumbered,” “America’s Newsroom with Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino,” “The Faulkner Focus,” “Your World with Neil Cavuto” and “The Story with Martha MacCallum.”
In fact, Fox News had 66 of the top 100 cable telecasts of the month.
The most-watched cable news program not on Fox News was MSNBC”s “The Rachel Maddow Show which finished No. 13. Ouch.
And Sean Hannity broke a record held by Larry King.
Hannity is now the longest-running primetime cable news host in television history. April 21st marked 25 consecutive years, six months, and 15 days at the helm of a primetime cable news program, breaking the previous longstanding record held by the late talk show host Larry King.
Hannity has been a staple of FNC’s primetime lineup since the launch of the network in 1996 and has become one of the most prominent and influential voices in the country.
FOX News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said:
“Sean’s authenticity and insightful commentary have created one of the most enduring connections with our audience and it’s been an honor to watch him over the years.
“A FOX News original, he has helped innovate the industry, and we are incredibly proud of his extraordinary success.”
Hannity said:
“I am extremely grateful to FOX News Media and to our loyal, dedicated viewers whom I am proud to serve every night.”
