The View Co-Hosts Call on DOJ to Investigate Tucker Carlson for ‘Shilling for Putin’

The co-hosts of ABC’s “The View” have called on the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate Tucker Carlson because they claim the Fox News host is “shilling for Putin.”

The hosts accused Carlson and former Democrat Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) of spreading Russian misinformation.

During a discussion on Monday’s broadcast of the show, the co-hosts branded Carlson and Gabbard “Russian propagandists.”

Ana Navarro said: “I think DOJ, in the same way that is setting up a task force to investigate Russian oligarchs, should look into people who are Russian propagandists and shilling for Putin.

“If you are a foreign asset to a dictator it should be investigated.

“I even hate that we’re discussing it,” she said.

“I think to myself who is this woman, she’s no longer in Congress, the fact that we’re giving her oxygen is what makes her relevant.

“On the other hand, how do you not call out something that is repeating false Russian propaganda and has been brought down,” she said.

Whoopi Goldberg chimed in by adding upping the ante, saying: “They used to arrest people for doing stuff like this.”

“If they thought that you were colluding with a Russian agent if they thought you were putting out information they used to actually investigate stuff like this.

“I guess now there seems to be no bars and people are not being told to hate Putin.

“Putin doesn’t need a reason to be hated it’s pretty much clear.”

Navarro fired back by suggesting Carlson’s career should be targeted over their claims of “colluding” with Russia.

She said Paul Ryan and other Fox News executives should “step in” and silence Carlson.

“They call themselves patriots,” she said.

“It’s not enough to be posting flags about Ukraine there’s a bunch of folks on that board who I wish would be weighing in and saying we cannot be Russian state TV.

“At least not every hour.”

Joy Behar the weighed in with:

“I hope he is planning to move to Moscow because he won’t be welcome here for much longer.”

From The AP:

More than two weeks into a war he expected to dominate in two days, Vladimir Putin is projecting anger, frustration at his military’s failures, and a willingness to cause even more violence and destruction in Ukraine, in the assessment of U.S. intelligence officials.

Officials in recent days have publicly said they’re worried the Russian president will escalate the conflict to try to break Ukraine’s resistance.

Russia still holds overwhelming military advantages and can bombard the country for weeks more.

And while the rest of the world reacts to horrific images of the war he started, Putin remains insulated from domestic pressure by what CIA Director William Burns called a “propaganda bubble.”

Putin’s mindset — as tough as it is to determine from afar — is critical for the West to understand as it provides more military aid to Ukraine and also prevent Putin from directly taking on NATO countries or possibly reaching for the nuclear button.

Intelligence officials over two days of testimony before Congress last week openly voiced concerns about what Putin might do.

And those concerns increasingly shape discussions about what U.S. policymakers are willing to do for Ukraine.
