‘The View’ Staffers Blow Whistle on Goldberg & Behar: ‘This Is Now Coming to an End’

Staffers from ABC’s “The View” have blown the whistle on the atmosphere behind the scenes, revealing that the hit TV show’s current dynamic may be “now coming to an end.”

Insiders from the show told The Daily Mail that the scandal involving Whoopie Goldberg’s Holocaust comments is just the latest issue involving the show’s co-hosts.

The fallout from the Goldberg scandal at The View is reportedly not going away anytime soon, according to staffers who talked to The Mail.

Goldberg was suspended for two weeks without pay which means she is out roughly $192,000, The Mail is reporting.

But staffers told the outlet they were happy with the suspension and the loss of pay, signaling that it was a long time coming.

Insiders say they hope this move will end the toxic culture where Goldberg and her fellow co-host Joy Behar can “say and do whatever they want.”

The staffers told The Daily Mail: “ABC understands that this is an opinion-based show, the facts will always be paramount.

“We want robust discussion but can’t have the hosts saying things that are false and not based on fact.

“It’s a new day at ABC News.

“Kim (Godwin) wants her entire team to be held accountable for their words and actions.

“There has been a real power vacuum on The View since Barbara Walters retired because she ran the show with an iron fist.

“After Barbara (Walters) left it became a free for all and Whoopi and Joy could do and say whatever they wanted.

This is now coming to an end.

“Kim (Godwin) is drawing a line in the sand for all staff across ABC News and is attempting to build a corporate culture based on truth, facts, accountability, and kindness.

“If you do not operate within this prism, Kim will take action.

“Whoopi’s suspension highlights this.

“Disney is aware that there are huge cultural issues within ABC News and Kim (Godwin) has the backing of Mickey Mouse to fix up the news division and set it on a different course.

“Whoopi is welcome to return after her unpaid two-week suspension. She took the news well and understood where the network was coming from,” the staffers said.

ABC News president Kim Godwin said when suspending Whoopi: “Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments.

“While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments.

“The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family, and communities.”

Goldberg issued an apology via Twitter: “On Today’s show, I said the Holocaust ‘is not about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man.’

“I should have said it is about both.

“As Jonathan Greenblatt from the Anti-Defamation League shared, ‘The Holocaust was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people — who they deemed to be an inferior race.’

“I stand corrected.

“The Jewish people around the world have always had my support and that will never waiver sic.

“I’m sorry for the hurt I have caused.”
