Tim Allen Visits ‘My Pal’ Jay Leno in Hospital: ‘He Has Severe Burns and Acts Like He Just Stubbed His Toe’

Hollywood legend Tim Allen went to the hospital to visit Jay Leno and revealed that his “pal” is downplaying his “severe burns.”

Leno was severely burned when a car in his collection with a steam engine caught fire while he was working on it.

The vehicle reportedly sprayed fuel on car-mad Leno before igniting.

Allen took to Twitter to give Leno’s fans an update on his condition.

“Went to see my pal Leno in the hospital after his burn accident,” Allen said.

“Took some treats and car magazines.

“He has severe burns and acts like he just stubbed his toe.

“The dude is a superhero.

“Great care will have him better real soon.”

Leno is currently being treated at the Grossman Burn Center in West Hills, California.

Dr. Peter Grossman, the president of the Los Angeles Society of Plastic Surgeons and medical director of the Grossman Burn Center, said of Leno: “His burns include his face, his hands, and his chest.

“The burns are fairly significant.

“He has undergone one surgery so far, he did well with that surgery, he is in good spirits today.

“When he got pulled out from the area underneath the car, it was noted that he had pretty significant burns to face and hands.

“He’s walking around and he’s cracking jokes.

“I can tell you that he’s incredibly kind to our nursing staff.

“He’s very compliant,” he revealed.

“He’s very appreciative of everybody here and really an ideal patient.

“His injuries are serious, his condition is good.

“I do anticipate him making a full recovery,” he said.

Leno told Variety:

“I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire.

“I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.”

TMZ broke the story and said Leno’s exact condition is unknown, “the flames burned the left side of Jay’s face, but thankfully did not penetrate his eye or his ear.

“He was taken to the burn ward at Grossman Burn Center where he remains.”

Leno owns a huge car collection.

He was reportedly inside his Los Angeles garage on Sunday when one of the vehicles erupted into flames.

The 72-year-old is still in the burn ward at the Grossman Center.

Leno was supposed to appear at The Financial Brand conference but organizers said there was a “very serious medical emergency” when they announced he would not be there.

The Financial Brand sent an email to Forum 2022 attendees that said:

“His family was not able to provide us very many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that is preventing Jay from traveling.

“All we know is that he is alive, so our prayers go out to him and his family tonight.”
