One of the world’s most influential climate scientists has blown the whistle with an explosive admission by warning the public that claims of a “crisis” related to so-called “global warming” are “manufactured.”
Judith A. Curry is an American climatologist and former chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
For years, Curry has been one of the leading voices warning that the Earth is facing an “emergency” due to allegedly “man-made climate change.”
In recent months, the corporate media’s apocalyptic warnings of a “climate crisis” have dramatically increased.
We are told that “climate change” is a “crisis,” there is an “overwhelming scientific consensus,” and anyone who dares question otherwise is a “conspiracy theorist” or, more recently, a crazy “MAGA Republican.”
However, Dr. Curry, a renowned climatologist, has just admitted that the fearmongering “science” has been fabricated in order to scare the public into believing we must fight a “climate emergency.”
“It’s a manufactured consensus,” Curry told the New York Post.
She reveals that scientists are pursuing incentives of “fame and fortune” that lead them to exaggerate, or even fabricate, the alleged risks.
According to Curry, one of the simplest and most effective ways for climate “scientists” to gain “fame and fortune” is to make false claims linking the weather to “global warming.”
It would be easy to assume that Curry is opining on what she thinks scientists are doing.
However, she knows exactly how the “climate science” industry works because she was spreading “global warming” hysteria herself.
Curry was previously the darling of the liberal corporate media after she published a study that seemed to show a dramatic increase in hurricane intensity.
“We found that the percent of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes had doubled,” says Curry.
“This was picked up by the media,” and then climate alarmists realized, “Oh, here is the way to do it,” she said.
“Tie extreme weather events to global warming!”
The “more intense” hurricanes reported in her findings rapidly gave the alarmists fuel.
However, when her work gave her worldwide recognition after it was linked to “climate change,” Curry admits that she enjoyed the green agenda ride.
“I was adopted by the environmental advocacy groups and the alarmists and I was treated like a rock star,” Curry recounts.
“Flown all over the place to meet with politicians.”
But then some researchers pointed out gaps in her research by highlighting the years with low levels of hurricanes.
“Like a good scientist, I investigated,” says Curry.
She realized that the critics were right.
“Part of it was bad data,” she admitted.
“Part of it is natural climate variability.”
Curry was the unusual researcher who looked at criticism of her work and actually concluded: “They had a point.”
Then the Climategate scandal taught her that other climate researchers weren’t so open-minded.
Alarmist scientists’ aggressive attempts to hide data suggesting climate change is not a crisis were revealed in leaked emails.
“Ugly things,” says Curry.
“Avoiding Freedom of Information Act requests.
“Trying to get journal editors fired.”
It made Curry realize that there is a “climate-change industry” set up to reward alarmism.
“The origins go back to the . . . UN environmental program,” says Curry.
Some United Nations officials were motivated by “anti-capitalism,” she revealed.
“They hated the oil companies and seized on the climate change issue to move their policies along,” Curry explains.
As Slay News reported, during a recent fearmongering speech, UN Director-General Antonio Guterres declared that “the era of global warming has ended” and “the era of global boiling has arrived.”
In 1988, the UN created the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
“The IPCC wasn’t supposed to focus on any benefits of warming,” Curry explains.
“The IPCC’s mandate was to look for dangerous human-caused climate change.”
“Then the national funding agencies directed all the funding . . . assuming there are dangerous impacts.”
The researchers quickly figured out that the way to get funded was to make alarmist claims about “man-made climate change.”
This is how “manufactured consensus” happens.
Even if a skeptic did get funding, it’s harder to publish because journal editors are alarmists.
“The editor of the journal Science wrote this political rant,” says Curry.
She even said, “The time for debate has ended.”
“What kind of message does that give?” Curry asks.
Then she answers her own question: “Promote the alarming papers!
“Don’t even send the other ones out for review.
“If you wanted to advance in your career, like be at a prestigious university and get a big salary, have big laboratory space, get lots of grant funding, be director of an institute, there was clearly one path to go.”
That’s what we’ve got now: a massive government-funded climate alarmism complex.
Claims of a “climate crisis” are being promoted around the globe by governments and their media accomplices in an effort to comply with the green agenda goals of the World Economic Forum (WEF), United Nations (UN), the World Health Organization (WHO), and other unelected globalist organizations.
Meeting these goals typically involves plans to drastically reduce the quality of life for most of the general public while ramping up taxes to “save the planet.”
Meanwhile, the handful of powerful elites promoting the green agenda will continue to fly around in private jets and eat meat because they are “part of the solution.”
Curry is not the first renowned scientist to come forward recently, however.
As Slay News reported last month, Dr. John Clauser, the co-winner of the 2022 Nobel Physics prize and one the world’s leading authorities on quantum mechanics, has also spoken out to warn the public that the “climate crisis” narrative being pushed by the global elite and their allies in the corporate media is a hoax.
He blasted “climate emergency” claims as a “dangerous corruption of science that threatens the world’s economy and the well-being of billions of people.”
Clauser, who was also awarded the 2010 Wolf Prize in Physics, the second most prestigious physics award after the Nobel, warns that misguided climate science is a hoax that is being driven by “massive shock-journalistic pseudoscience.”
These views are also echoed by renowned environmentalist Dr. Patrick Moore, a co-founder of Greenpeace.
As Slay News previously reported, Moore is also warning the public that the anti-carbon dioxide narrative is a scam.
Moore, an ecologist and environmental activist for more than 50 years, argues that an increased level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is beneficial.
According to Moore, claims that climate change is “human-caused” are “propaganda” which he describes as “dangerous.”
The comments from Moore, a leading expert in environmentalism, directly conflict with the green agenda being pushed by Biden’s administration and globalist groups.
Moore says that environmentalism has been hijacked and the movement has “abandoned science and logic in favor of emotion and sensationalism.”
“When Greenpeace began, we had a strong humanitarian orientation, to save civilization from destruction by all-out nuclear war,” Moore said.
“Over the years the ‘peace’ in Greenpeace was gradually lost and my organization, along with much of the environmental movement, drifted into a belief that humans are the enemies of the Earth.”
As Slay News reported, the World Climate Declaration has been signed by around 300 climate professors.
“There is no climate emergency,” the document declares.
The lead signatory is the Nobel laureate Professor Ivar Giaever.
The Declaration states that climate models are “not remotely plausible as global policy tools.”
They exaggerate the effect of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, but ignore any beneficial effect, it explains.
Climate science has degenerated into a discussion based on beliefs, not on sound self-critical science, it says.
The declaration argues Earth’s climate has varied, with cold and warm periods, for as long as the planet has existed, and it is “no surprise that we are experiencing a period of warming.”
The climate models “are not remotely plausible as global policy tools,” ignoring, for one, the benefits of carbon dioxide, which is “not a pollutant.”
“It is essential to all life on Earth,” the declaration says.
There is no statistical evidence, the signatories say, “that global warming is intensifying hurricanes, floods, droughts, and such-like natural disasters, or making them more frequent.”
“We strongly oppose the harmful and unrealistic net-zero CO2 policy proposed for 2050,” the declaration concludes.
