Top Obama Advisor Arrested after ‘Indecent Images of Children’ Found

A senior advisor in former President Barack Obama’s administration has been arrested in the UK after he was caught with “indecent images of children.”

46-year-old Rahamim “Rami” Shy has just appeared in a British court after being charged with child sex offenses.

Shy was a top official in the Obama administration and worked closely with then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

At the time, Shy coordinated the U.S. government’s strategy to combat terrorists from Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

However, court documents reveal that Shy is now accused of “arranging the commission of a child sex offense.”

According to UK authorities, Shy was paying pedophiles to create child pornography, especially for him.

He is also charged with “possession of two category C indecent images of children” and “possessing a prohibited image of a child.”

Shy, an American citizen who lives in New Jersey, was arrested in late February by Bedfordshire Police in England.

He was charged with the horrific child sex crimes the following day.

On Friday, Shy appeared at Luton Crown Court via video link from HMP Bedford prison.

He was wearing a grey prison-issue tracksuit.

He was not asked to enter a plea to any of the charges and was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing in June.

He was most recently employed as an executive at the banking group Citi.

The bank listed his specific role at the company as the Deputy Head of Enterprise Issue Management.

Previously, Shy worked in a senior role at Obama’s U.S. Treasury Department from 2008 to 2014.

He was tasked with advising officials on countering the financing of terrorism.

Shy also assisted foreign governments in imposing sanctions on hostile regimes.

As well as working as a senior adviser to the late U.S. diplomat Richard Holbrooke, who served under the last three Democrat presidents, Shy provided strategic policy analysis to chiefs of staff at the U.S. Department of Defence.

He was deployed to Afghanistan to provide expertise to the Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).

The ISAF was set up to maintain stability following the America-led invasion of the country.

According to his LinkedIn page, Shy provided ISAF with counter-terrorist finance expertise.

He went on to present America’s strategy on Afghanistan during a congressional hearing in 2010.

Shy was a student at Rutgers University in New Jersey.

He later studied international security policy at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs in New York.

A spokesman from Citi said that Shy was no longer an employee at the banking group.

Shy is due to go on trial in August.

It’s unclear whether others linked to Shy’s crimes were also arrested.
