One of President Donald Trump’s top aides says that the recent report claiming that the 45th POTUS has asked Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be his running mate in 2024 is “fake news.”
According to the New York Post, the aide is Chris LaCivita, one of Trump’s top advisers.
This comes after a separate report from the Post, which claimed that Trump’s 2024 campaign team previously reached out to Kennedy.
The report claims that Trump asked RFK Jr. if he would be willing to be his running mate for the election.
LaCivitia shot down these claims, however.
In a post on X, LaCavitia claimed that Trump’s campaign never offered the vice president role to Kennedy.
“This is 100% FAKE NEWS – NO ONE from the Trump Campaign ever approached RFK jr (or ever will) – one of the most LIBERAL and radical environmentalists in the country,” LaCivita wrote.
“For all the fake news- update your stories.”

Another question, of course, is whether Trump is considering making Kennedy his running mate.
Based on LaCivita’s post – particularly the part where he wrote that Kennedy is “one of the most LIBERAL and radical environmentalists in the country” – one would have to think that the answer is “no,” Trump is not considering making Kennedy his running mate.
Earlier in the day on Saturday, the Post published a story claiming that Trump “made preliminary overtures” to Kennedy about becoming his running mate.
The outlet reported:
“Trump operatives expressed an interest in Kennedy early on, but it was all premature,” said one person familiar with the matter, adding that it was “right out of the box when Bobby announced” in April 2023 he was running for president.
The Post added:
“Anything’s possible. I wouldn’t write it off by any means,” the insider continued.
This is what prompted the response from Lacivita.
Speculation about Trump’s potential running mates continues after he just dominated the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary.
Trump continues to dominate 2024 polling.
However, Trump has yet to reveal his pick.
But, it appears that the frontrunners likely include Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, U.S. Sens. J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Tim Scott (R-SC), former GP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and others.
