Trump Breaks Silence on Jussie Smollett Conviction: ‘He’s Not Going to Get Away with It’

President Donald Trump has broken his silence on Jussie Smollett’s guilty verdicts.

Trump weighed in on the conviction on Laura Ingraham’s program last night.

“Mr. President, you just heard the left blame you back in 2019 for Jussie Smollett’s phony race attack,” said Ingraham.

“Of course, he was found guilty on five of the six accounts.”

Trump said: “It’s a disgrace when happened.

“He said MAGA country tried to hang him, that MAGA country was bad.

“And if somebody, if he were a Republican, if he were on the other side, he’d be in jail for 25 years for hate crimes.

“And it turned out they were caught and they admitted everything.

“And that this even went to trial, it’s so crazy what happened and he tried to get away.

“But they got it and they got it strong, and he was convicted almost all of the counts.

“This was an absolute con job.

“He was a conman and he wanted to try to get sympathy so he could have his contract renewed for a ridiculous television series, but that didn’t work out too well.

“And then on top of it, he got caught. And you know, it’s interesting. He wouldn’t have been caught except he pressed it all the way.

“He pressed it too far.

“He wanted apologies and everything else, and then the police came in.

“They did an amazing job and they caught him cold and he deserves it.

“But this is a hate crime.

“This is really a hate crime, sort of a hate crime in reverse and he’s not going to get away with it.”

From Fox News:

Ex-Superintendent Eddie Johnson told NewsNationNow’s “Morning in America” that Smollett left his home around 2 a.m. on the day he claimed to be attacked to buy the sandwich.

“OK, that’s fine,” Johnson said, adding that morning was one of the coldest in Chicago that year and hardly anyone was on the street.

“He comes back and gets attacked in a hate crime, supposed hate crime, and during all this scuffle – they poured bleach on him and all of this – when he got up and went into his apartment building he still had that Subway sandwich with him. That doesn’t happen.”

Smollett’s interview with police inside his apartment after the claimed attack was caught on body camera footage.

Johnson said victims usually abandon whatever they have with them when they’re attacked “because they’re afraid.”

“This guy had the sandwich in his hand, never been touched. So that was a real tip and a clue to us that something was amiss.”
