President Donald Trump has fired back at Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on social media for raising doubts about the Republicans’ chances of winning the Senate in the November midterms.
“I think there’s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate,” McConnell said.
“Senate races are just different, they’re statewide.
“Candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.
“Right now, we have a 50-50 Senate and a 50-50 country, but I think when all is said and done this fall, we’re likely to have an extremely close Senate.
“Either our side up slightly or their side up slightly,” he said.
McConnell’s preferred candidates lost some key primary races against candidates supported by the 45th president.

Enter Trump, who said:
“Why do Republicans Senators allow a broken down hack politician, Mitch McConnell, to openly disparage hard-working Republican candidates for the United States Senate?
“This is such an affront to honor and to leadership.
“He should spend more time (and money!) helping them get elected, and less time helping his crazy wife and family get rich on China!”
Trump also took a victory lap after Liz Cheney’s historic defeat:
“The Fake News Media has badly soiled Liz Cheney, who has just suffered the biggest defeat of a sitting Congressperson in history (broke the record of another Impeacher, Tom Rice of South Carolina!), losing by 40 points, all over the place doing interviews that nobody wants to hear.
“No wonder their ratings are sooo BAD.”
Tucker ripping into Mitch McConnell: “It’s entirely possible Mitch McConnell doesn’t want to retake the Senate, because then you’d have to run things. And if there’s one thing Republican leaders dislike, it’s running anything. Much easier to complain on Fox News.” pic.twitter.com/BBM9Xiz8Jy
