President Donald Trump has announced that he will “permanently pause migration” from Third World countries and has ordered a sweeping green-card audit of 19 nations following the terror attack near the White House that left a National Guard soldier dead and another critically wounded.
Trump accused former President Joe Biden of flooding the country with unvetted migrants and directly blamed the previous administration’s botched 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal for bringing the alleged Afghan gunman into the United States.
“I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the US system to fully recover,” Trump wrote in a Thursday night Truth Social post.
He also vowed to end federal benefits for noncitizens, denaturalize migrants who undermine U.S. security, and deport any foreign national deemed a security risk or “non-compatible with Western Civilization.”
“Only REVERSE MIGRATION can fully cure this situation,” he wrote, adding:
“Other than that, HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL, except those that hate, steal, murder, and destroy everything that America stands for – You won’t be here for long!”
Trump Orders Immediate Review of Green Cards from 19 Nations
As part of the administration’s emergency national-security response, Trump ordered an immediate review of every green card issued to immigrants from the following “countries of concern”:
Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.
The directive marks one of the most aggressive immigration security actions taken during Trump’s second term.
Deadly D.C. Attack Sparks Emergency Action
The moves come after 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal allegedly opened fire on two National Guard soldiers stationed just blocks from the White House.
Lakanwal shot both troops in the head at close range.
The shooting killed 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom of West Virginia and left 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe in critical condition.
Lakanwal entered the United States in 2021 during Biden’s chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal after serving in the CIA-backed “Zero Unit,” a paramilitary force aligned with U.S. operations in Kandahar.
Trump has repeatedly argued that Biden’s rushed evacuation brought unknown individuals into the United States without proper scrutiny, an argument he returned to forcefully Thursday.
Trump Clashes with ‘Stupid’ CBS Reporter
During an exchange with CBS White House correspondent Nancy Cordes, Trump bristled when she suggested Biden wasn’t responsible for Lakanwal’s entry.
Cordes said:
“Actually, your DOJ IG just reported this year that there was thorough vetting by DHS and by the FBI of these Afghans who were brought into the US…
“So why do you blame the Biden administration for what this man did?”
Trump immediately responded:
“Are you stupid? Because they let them in.
“Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person?
“They came in on a plane along with thousands of other people that shouldn’t be here, and you’re just asking questions because you’re a stupid person.”
He then returned to outlining the administration’s sweeping security directives, calling them a necessary response to a national-security failure that cost an American soldier her life.
Beckstrom’s Death Announced Live
Hours before releasing his Truth Social statement, Trump delivered the devastating news during a livestreamed call with service members:
“Just seconds before I went on…
“I heard that Sarah Beckstrom of West Virginia… highly respected, young, magnificent person… outstanding in every way, she’s just passed away…
“She was savagely attacked; she’s dead.”
Wolfe remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Trump Promises Broader Immigration Reforms
In his full statement, Trump pledged to:
• “Terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions”
• End all federal benefits and subsidies for noncitizens
• Remove anyone “not a net asset to the United States”
• Deport foreign nationals who are public charges or security risks
• Denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility
Trump also issued a searing critique of America’s overloaded immigration system, pointing to census data showing 53 million foreign nationals living in the U.S.
He wrote:
“This refugee burden is the leading cause of social dysfunction in America…
“Failed schools, high crime, urban decay, overcrowded hospitals, housing shortages, and large deficits, etc.”
He also criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar, writing:
“Always wrapped in her swaddling hijab… you are not allowed to marry your brother.”
White House: Biden Is Responsible for Parole, Not Trump
A White House official clarified that Lakanwal’s parole was granted under Biden, and that the Democrat ex-president later signed the law binding USCIS to expedite asylum decisions for evacuees.
“This Afghan national was paroled into the US by the Biden Admin,” the official said.
The official added that even without asylum, Lakanwal’s parole would have prevented removal.
CIA Director Confirms Lakanwal Worked With U.S. Agencies
Hours after Lakanwal’s identity was released, CIA Director John Ratcliffe confirmed that he had been known to the agency:
His involvement was “as a member of a partner force in Kandahar, which ended shortly following the chaotic evacuation.”
