UN Chief Demands Slavery Reparations to Tackle ‘White Supremacy’

United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres is demanding that Western nations must pay slavery reparations in order to tackle “systemic racism and white supremacy.”

Guterres warns that taxpayers in the West must compensate for the trans-Atlantic slave trade as a way to tackle “its legacy” in today’s society.

The head of the unelected globalist organization made the demand in a statement to mark the UN International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery.

In a video published by the UN, Guterres said past colonial powers “laid the foundations for a violent discrimination system based on white supremacy that still echoes today.

“Descendants of enslaved Africans and people of African descent are still fighting for equal rights and freedoms around the world.

“Today and every day, we reject the legacy of this horrific crime against humanity.

“[…] We call for reparatory justice frameworks to help overcome generations of exclusion and discrimination.”

However, the UN chief failed to mention whether he will be demanding compensation for African-Americans from Africa.

Despite efforts by reparations advocates to rewrite history, it was, in fact, African kings who sold their own people into slavery.

Europeans were not able to independently enter the West and Central African interior to capture Africans and force them onto ships to the Americas.

Instead, European traders generally relied on a network of African rulers and traders to capture and enslave Africans.

Africans were brought by their leaders from various coastal and interior regions to slave castles on the West and Central African coasts.

It was actually the British so-called “colonialists” who first fought to end slavery.

Between 1807 and 1860, the British Royal Navy, West Africa Squadron seized approximately 1600 ships involved in the slave trade and freed 150,000 Africans who were aboard these vessels.

The British Navy lost thousands of sailors battling to end slavery while African rulers fought to continue profiting from the slave trade.

In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln, a white Republican, issued the Emancipation Proclamation declaring “all persons held as slaves within any State, or designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United States, shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free.”

At the time, Democrats strongly opposed the move.

Of course, these facts are often conveniently scrubbed from the debate when globalists blame “white supremacy” for slavery.

In September, a UN report suggested countries should consider financial reparations to compensate for slavery.

Speaking at the at the UN General Assembly, Hilary Beckles, chair of the reparations commission of the Caribbean Community Political and Economic Union, or Caricom, said:

“This is the movement that will signal, finally, the collective victory of humanity, of good over evil.”

The Caricom Reparations Commission was set up to seek reparations, including debt cancellations and support to tackle public health crises.

The commission sought reparation from former colonial powers such as the United Kingdom, France, and Portugal.

The demand for financial reparations has also been heard in the United States.

As Slay News reported, Christian leaders in Boston, Massachusetts have called on “white churches” to dole out billions of dollars in reparations to black people as compensation for slavery.

“We call sincerely and with a heart filled with faith and Christian love for our white churches to join us and not be silent around this issue of racism and slavery and commit to reparations,” Reverend Kevin Peterson said at a recent event at Resurrection Lutheran Church.

Director of the Centre for Reparation Research at the University of the West Indies Verene Shepherd said it was time for “Britain and other former and current colonial powers to own up to their responsibility.”

Apparently, Shepherd skipped high school history class.
