A University of Pittsburgh pharma student has died suddenly at just 25 years old from an “unknown cause,” according to reports.
Dr. Lindsay Ann Heck passed away “unexpectedly” on December 20, 2022, her family revealed.
Heck had “just become a pharmacist” shortly before she died.
“She loved teaching students, doing research, running multiple vaccine clinics, and sharing her passion and knowledge with others,” her obituary reads.
According to local news reports, Heck is listed as dying from an “unknown cause.”
“Lindsay was the light of everyone’s life; her smile lit up a room and her laughter was contagious,” according to her obituary.
“She was a loyal friend and trusted confidante to everyone she loved.
“Lindsay loved fiercely and lived her life always putting others before herself.
“She was the valedictorian of her Class of 2016 at Tunkhannock Area School District.
“She then received a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh in May of 2022, where she graduated summa cum laude.
“She was a fellow at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy in the Community Pharmacy Practice Development and Research Fellowship.
“She loved teaching students, doing research, running multiple vaccine clinics, and sharing her passion and knowledge with others,” her obituary reads.
The family has been hit with further bad news, however.
Two weeks after Lindsay’s death, her father suffered a life-threatening “severe cardiac event.”
He is currently undergoing medical care in the cardiac intensive care unit, as stated on the GoFundMe page set up for Lindsay’s sister, Carly.
In Lindsay’s last moments, Carly was by her side, heroically administering CPR but to no avail.
“There are no words to describe the heartbreak and trauma that Carly and her family have experienced over the last several weeks.
“We are hoping to raise funds to help cover the cost of funeral expenses for Lindsay, medical expenses for Carl, and food/housing/transportation costs for Carly and her family as she supports her father, away from home, in Philadelphia,” according to the fundraising campaign.
After the news of her death, Lindsay’s family and friends have been posting messages on social media to pay their respects:
