WATCH: Car Goes Airborne on Los Angeles Freeway after Hitting Tire

A Tesla dashcam recorded a shocking video showing the exact moment a car struck a tire that came off a pickup truck on a California highway.

The footage shows the vehicle being launched 10 feet into the air.

A Kia Soul was traveling on a Los Angeles highway when a loose wheel from a Chevrolet Silverado hits the Kia sending it airborne.

The accident happened on the Ronald Reagan Freeway in Chatsworth, Los Angeles, on Thursday, March 23.

The LAPD said nobody was injured although the Kia driver sustained minor injuries.

According to Storyful:

“Video recorded by Anoop Khatra’s Tesla dash camera shows the loose tire shoot off a truck and go underneath the vehicle, propelling it in the air and flipping it upside down.

“In a statement to Storyful, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said there were no major injuries following the incident.

“Khatra said the driver was the only occupant in the vehicle and that they walked away without major injuries after the accident.”

According to Fox News:

The California Highway Patrol told KABC-TV that the Kia driver suffered minor injuries.

The agency said the pickup truck’s tire came loose due to what appeared to be sheared-off lug nuts.
