White House Responds to Musk Exposing Twitter’s Censorship of Hunter Biden Laptop: A ‘Distraction,’ ‘Old News’

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has responded to Elon Musk exposing the collusion between Twitter and Democrats, to censor damaging reports on Hunter Biden’s laptop, by blasting the revelation as just a “distraction” that is “full of old news.”

As Slay News reported, Musk published the bombshell “Twitter Files” on Friday, revealing that the company’s executives censored information on the platform at the request of “the Biden team.”

The files show that the Biden administration violated the First Amendment rights of Americans by instructing Twitter to censor them.

The exposé, the first of many more to come, has triggered a wave of lawsuits against Democrats.

During Monday’s White House media briefing, Jean-Pierre tried desperately to downplay the revelations.

“My question was that you had said I think six or so days ago that the White House was watching closely the situation at Twitter after Elon Musk’s ownership of it with respect to misinformation,” a reporter said to Jean-Pierre.

“And because these files were released on the basis of, you know, hacked materials clause at Twitter, decisions were made to censor reporting leading to the election.

“My question was, is it the White House view that these decisions were made appropriately in light of what has come out?” she asked.

“So look, we see this as an interesting, or a coincidence, if I may, that he would so haphazardly, that Twitter would so haphazardly push this distraction that is full of old news, if you think about it,” Jean-Pierre responded.

“And, at the same time, Twitter is facing real and very serious questions about the rising volume of anger, hate, and anti-Semitism on that platform and how they’re letting it happen.

“And you know, the president said last week, more leaders need to speak out and reject this, and it’s very alarming and very dangerous,” she continued.

“But our focus right now is helping the American family,” she concluded before pivoting to other Biden policies.

Among the files released by Musk is a trove of internal emails related to the decision to censor the story on Hunter Biden’s “Laptop from Hell” ahead of the 2020 election.

The emails show that the Biden campaign asked the company to review tweets and users who might have violated its terms of service by discussing the laptop story.

However, the debate over the Hunter Biden story was criticized internally.

While Musk’s “Twitter Files” also shows that the Trump team asked for reviews from Twitter, the left-leaning values of the employees at the social media company meant that Biden’s requests were given precedence.

The emails also show that several Democrats called for more censorship from Twitter.

Just one single Democrat lawmaker warned Twitter that the censorship was in violation of free speech rights.
