The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an alert over the surging deaths caused by breast cancer in young women that show no signs of slowing down.
The WHO estimates that the trend is set to continue, and cases of the deadly disease will skyrocket by 2050.
Experts from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) reveal that breast cancer cases started spiking globally in 2022, specifically in women under 50.
The IARC, which is part of the WHO, examined cancer data from over 50 different countries.
Women in the United States, the UK, France, and Sweden are among the hardest hit by the surge.
The IARC warns that as cases continue to increase, breast cancer deaths will soar by another 40 percent over the next 25 years.
Worryingly, however, doctors insist they are baffled by the surge, suggesting that ageing populations and unhealthy lifestyles must be to blame.
It comes as concerning research has suggested breast cancer cases globally are rising in women under 50.
A new study led by IARC scientist Dr. Joanne Kim warns that breast cancer deaths are “worsening.”
“Every minute, four women are diagnosed with breast cancer worldwide, and one woman dies from the disease, and these statistics are worsening,” Dr. Kim said.
In the study’s paper, published in the renowned journal Nature Medicine, the scientists added:
“While breast cancer is a recognized public health priority, these findings provide evidence using key indicators to further support a call to action to address inadequacies and inequities in global breast cancer care.
“Strategies for early detection, including screening and efficient referral care pathways, and comprehensive treatment, are also required.”
Researchers said there were 58,756 new cases of breast cancer in the UK alone in 2022.
However, this is expected to rise to 71,006 by 2050 — an increase of 21 percent.
In 2022, there were also 12,122 deaths from the disease, they added.
This is expected to rise to 17,261 by 2050 — a jump of 42 percent.
Globally, the study also found that, on average, one in 20 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
By 2050, there will be 3.2 million new cases and 1.1 million breast cancer-related deaths per year if current trends continue.
It comes as research last year suggested that incidence rates of breast cancer in women are now rising by 1 percent per year overall.
However, cases are rising by 1.4 per year for women under the age of 50.
The warning comes after new evidence has emerged to identify the root cause of the surging cancer cases over the last four years.

Dr. Angus Dalgleish has issued a bone-chilling warning about skyrocketing cases of deadly cancers among patients who received Covid mRNA “vaccines.”
Dalgleish is raising the alarm that mRNA “vaccines” are causing an increase in cancer relapses.
In addition, Dalgleish warns of a growing number of cases of “turbo cancers.”
Dalgleish argues that Covid mRNA “vaccines” are the cause of skyrocketing excess deaths recorded all around the world since early 2021.
He also asserts that the injections are linked to surges in cancer, which he described as “turbo cancers.”
The disease has been found to form and spread so rapidly among vaccinated people that doctors have dubbed the phenomenon “turbo cancer.”
Doctors have revealed that some “turbo cancers” spread so quickly that seemingly healthy patients can die within a week of being diagnosed.
Oncologists are also warning that these aggressive cancers don’t respond to conventional treatments.
This phenomenon has been seen globally.
“This is happening on a horrendous scale,” Dalgleish warns.
