ABC Rejects Kamala Harris’ Last-Ditch Effort to Change Rules for Trump Debate

ABC News has rejected a last-ditch effort from Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris to change the rules for her first debate with President Donald Trump.

The network denied Vice President Harris’s attempt to attempt to sabotage her opponent for her upcoming debate with Trump on September 10.

Harris, wanted the network to allow the candidates to sit throughout the debate, according to reports.

The Democrat VP also wanted to bring notes along and keep the microphones live rather than cut them off once each candidate’s time had expired.

Those same rules were in place during President Joe Biden’s disastrous CNN debate against Trump in late June.

Trump and Harris will stand for the duration of the debate, according to a New York Post report published Thursday.

Each candidate will be allowed a water bottle, a pen, and paper.

The event will be held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

One Trump ally told The Post that both campaigns were informed of the debate rules in writing last week.

Both agreed to the network’s rule.

However, Harris’s campaign later reached out again and called for the mics to be left on for the entirety of the debate.

The consensus, according to some reports, was that live mics could be a liability for Trump, given his history of interrupting debate opponents.

Some Republicans believe Harris was attempting to lay a trap for the GOP nominee by keeping mics live.

Others argued that Harris, who spent a fair amount of time interrupting former Vice President Mike Pence during her 2020 VP debate, was simply attempting to use the same strategy against Trump.

The source reportedly told The Post:

“At this point, Team Harris is going to be taking an ‘L’ when they finally accept, as the debate rules aren’t changing, or they’ll take an even bigger ‘L’ if they back out of the debate because the Dana Bash/CNN interview goes poorly.”

Harris has gone nearly 40 days without speaking to the media after leap-frogging to the top of the Democratic Party’s 2024 ticket more than a month ago.

However, she will sit for her first softball interview with friendly CNN anchor Dana Bash.

The interview will be pre-taped and pre-edited before it’s broadcast.

Harris’s running mate, Minnesota’s radical Democrat Governor Tim Walz, will also participate in the interview.

However, the move to have Walz holding Harris’s hand for the interview has provoked a backlash.

Critics argue that her inability to speak to the media or sit for a solo interview raises questions about her ability to lead the greatest country in the world.

As Slay News reported earlier, CNN political commentator Scott Jennings said that it was “incredibly weak” that Harris could not do the interview by herself.

He noted that it shows the party does not have confidence in her.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) blasted Harris for setting up a “softball” sitdown with CNN’s Dana Bash as her first interview with the media since launching her campaign.

Cruz noted that the interview will be re-planned, pre-recorded, and edited to remove the “word salad” and “things that are dumb” that Harris says.

The senator argues that the interview is “propaganda” that only serves to further gaslight the American people.
