Nina Jankowicz, the former “disinformation chief” in Democrat President Joe Biden’s administration, is suing Fox News for alleged “defamation.”
Jankowicz previously served as the head of Biden’s now-defunct Disinformation Governance Board.
She has now filed a defamation lawsuit against Fox News in response to the negative reporting she received as she pushed to censor the American people.
The suit accuses the network of engaging in a “malicious campaign of destruction.”
After getting fired from her federal government role when her “Ministry of Truth” was shut down, Jankowicz had hinted that she was considering a lawsuit.
Jankowicz’s lawsuit, filed in Delaware state court, claims that Fox News mentioned her over 300 times throughout 2022 in broadcast and online publications.
She says the network’s hosts and commentators “spread lies” about her.
The suit specifically accuses Fox News of defaming Jankowicz by stating that she was dismissed from the board.
She also complains that Fox News reported that Jankowicz aimed to censor Americans’ speech, a claim that she insists is false.
According to the lawsuit, this coverage from America’s free press allegedly resulted in violent threats against her.
Jankowicz’s attorney, Rylee Sommers-Flanagan, states that her client has suffered “irreparable harm,” both personally and professionally.
Sommers-Flanagan claims that this “harm” was caused by Fox News’s reporting.
“Fox’s coverage of Jankowicz was neither news nor political commentary; it was cheap, easy entertainment untethered from the facts, designed to make consumers believe that Jankowicz could and would suppress their speech,” the suit alleges.
“Fox chose to lie about Jankowicz deliberately.”
Jankowicz was appointed executive director of the DHS board back in 2022.
The pushback against the board was swift.
The board, which sought to censor information deemed to be “disinformation” by the Democrats and Biden admin, was accused of violating the First Amendment.
The board was quickly suspended following a widespread backlash and eventually scrapped.
