Elon Musk responded with disbelief when he learned that a satirical article mocking a Black Lives Matter (BLM) co-founder’s multi-million dollar property empire was actually based in fact.
On Wednesday, Musk commented in response to a Babylon Bee article that mocked BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors.
Cullors has been the subject of widespread criticism after it emerged that she has accumulated a vast personal wealth off the back of the violent 2020 BLM riots that her organization led.
Two years ago, The New York Post revealed that Cullors owns four high-end homes in the United States alone.
Cullors also eyed property in the Bahamas at an ultra-exclusive resort where Justin Timberlake and Tiger Woods both have homes, The Post reported.
In April last year, she was also accused of using BLM funds, given to the organization in donations from people who want to fight racism, to splash out on a $6 million luxury mansion for herself in Southern California.
Cullors also used BLM funds to splash out $6.3 million on a mansion in Canada for her wife.
In an article from the Babylon Bee, the satirical outlet mocked the scandal in a piece headlined: “BLM Founder Reminds Everyone Justice Won’t Fully Be Served Until She Can Buy A 5th House.”
In response to a tweet about the article, Musk deadpanned, “I can’t tell satire from reality these days.”
“Does she really own four houses?” Musk wondered.
I can’t tell satire from reality these days. Does she really own four houses?

The satire article suggested that “BLM leaders estimate it may take another few more months of violent activism until Cullors can afford her 5th dream home.”
Amid the mounting scandal, Cullors stepped down from her as Executive Director of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation in May 2021.
In response to the scandal, Cullors tried to claim the allegations were “right-wing attacks.”
“Those were right-wing attacks that tried to discredit my character, and I don’t operate off of what the right thinks about me,” Cullors insisted.
She also alleged that criticisms of her property empire were “racist.”
Despite the allegations, Cullors has refused to explain her vast personal wealth.
Meanwhile, she has continued to renovate her current homes with expensive luxury upgrades such as swimming pools.
