Kevin Costner Breaks Silence on ‘Yellowstone’ Final Episodes, Says He Will Not Be Back: ‘They Walked Away’

Kevin Costner has broken his silence regarding the future of “Yellowstone,” saying he has “concluded his work” on the hit TV show.

Costner spilled the beans about his departure from the show which has come amid his bitter divorce and child support battle with ex-wife Christine Baumgartner.

“There were issues about creative,” Costner said of the issues behind the scenes on “Yellowstone.”

“I tried to break the log jam.

“They walked away,” he revealed.

“I was going to do my movie ‘Horizon’ and leave that show, do my movie, then do the second half.

“A show I was only doing once a year I was now doing twice.”

Coster’s massive earnings from “Yellowstone” and his departure from the show have been a key battle in his divorce.

“’Yellowstone’ was a complete aberration and provided Kevin with an unusually high level of income — a level he has never had in the past,” court docs said.

“’Yellowstone’ was a once-in-a-lifetime event going forward, his income will not reach that level — ever.”

“Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan said earlier:

“My last conversation with Kevin was that he had this passion project he wanted to direct.

“He and the network were arguing about when he could be done with Yellowstone.

“I said, ‘We can certainly work a schedule toward [his preferred exit date],’ which we did.”

The Yellowstone universe will continue and Matthew McConaughey will star in a “Yellowstone” spinoff series.

McConaughey said on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast:

“I am now becoming more interested in actually going to play another character in a TV show because the last four years of culminating and writing and getting these things together and getting more into public service.

“The idea of going to act in the right kind of role, in the right kind of movie, film, or series right now sounds like an awesome vacation,” he said.
