Barack Obama is reportedly panicking over concerns that Democrat President Joe Biden will lose the November election.
According to a new report, Obama is growing increasingly “anxious” over the prospect that President Donald Trump will beat Biden and take the White House back.
A Monday story from New York Magazine says Obama has been holding “secret meetings” with Biden to discuss how the close confidants can save their “legacy” from Trump.
The report, titled “What Obama is Whispering to Biden,” provides detailed information about the “secret” meals shared by the two top Democrats.
Obama is reportedly desperate to salvage the 2024 election amid concerning indicators.
According to the report, one of Obama’s friends told the outlet that while “his anxiety about the election is real,” the former president’s concerns fall in line with the opinions of other top Democrats.
Those who keep in regular contact with Obama say his concerns are not out of any underlying animosity toward Biden or his team but rather an acknowledgment of the country’s fractured political and media landscape, according to New York Magazine.
Obama has allegedly been careful not to criticize his close friend or his campaign, aware that reporting on his feelings would do little to help the Democratic Party.
Still, according to sources who spoke with New York Magazine, Obama believes the 2024 race is likely to be a nail-biter and the prospect of a Trump victory is real.
While he initially distanced himself from Biden’s 2020 campaign, Obama eventually became a key surrogate.
He successfully convinced Biden campaign leaders Jen O’Malley Dillon and Anita Dunn to triple their digital budget.
Obama also helped set up a working group of tech tycoons to help build out Biden’s online operations.
He later roped in director Steven Spielberg, who assisted in the production of Biden’s convention programming, according to the report by Gabriel Debenedetti.
Throughout his presidency, Biden and his aides allegedly did not think it was paramount to rely on Obama as they did during the previous election cycle.
However, by late 2023, Obama had again become a central figure in the campaign as the rematch between Trump and Biden became clear.
Obama began offering a variety of opinions on the campaign logistics.
He also emphasized the importance of building out and retaining staff in crucial battleground states.
Obama has also engaged in more frequent talks with campaign chair Dillon about efforts to target young and black voters.
During a recent event with Biden and late-night host Jimmy Kimmel at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, Obama said:
“I take great pride in what the Biden administration has accomplished.
“And it’s a reminder that we don’t have to just vote against something in this election.
“We have somebody to worry about.
“And there’s a whole agenda that we should be concerned about.”
Meanwhile, Obama doesn’t appear to be the only top Democrat expressing concerns about Biden’s ability to go up against Trump.
As Slay News reported earlier, Hillary Clinton appears to be expecting Biden to get beat by Trump during the first presidential debate on Thursday.
Clinton has been laying the groundwork ahead of this week’s first presidential debate by complaining that it’s a “waste of time” trying to argue with President Donald Trump.
In a guest essay for the New York Times on Tuesday, Clinton appeared to be preparing for Democrat President Joe Biden’s widely expected defeat on the debate stage.
Hillary claims that debating Trump is “impossible” because his arguments are not “like in a normal debate.”
“I know the excruciating pressure of walking onto that stage and that it is nearly impossible to focus on substance when Mr. Trump is involved,” Clinton wrote, as she advised Biden on how to approach the big day.
“It is a waste of time to try to refute Mr. Trump’s arguments like in a normal debate.
“It’s nearly impossible to identify what his arguments even are.”
