Republicans are calling for a freeze on the $6 billion “ransom” payment that Democrat President Joe Biden gave to Iran last month.
The calls come after the Iranian regime-funded terrorist group Hamas launched horrific attacks in Israel over the weekend.
As Slay News reported earlier, Iran’s Islamic government celebrated the attacks that resulted in the murder, rape, and kidnapping of hundreds of innocent Israeli citizens.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi declared the attacks a “victory.”
Iran funds and arms the terrorist group Hamas, which has ruled Gaza since a coup in 2007.
It also funds and arms other groups, notably Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
Palestinian Islamic Jihad also attacked Israel earlier this year, unsuccessfully.
In a letter to Hamas and Islamic Jihad, Raisi stated:
“I am congratulating this great and strategic victory, which is a serious warning to all compromisers in the region.”
Since taking office, Biden and his administration have been trying to negotiate a new nuclear deal with Iran.
On the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks this year, Biden announced on September 11 that he was giving Iran $6 billion.
The White House caved to the regime after the Islamic nation was holding Americans to ransom who were taken prisoner in Iran.
The money was Iranian funds that the United States had previously frozen.
Now Republicans, led by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), are demanding a freeze on Biden’s agreement with Iran.
“The Biden administration is refusing to acknowledge Iran’s role in the unprovoked terrorist attacks on Israel. But Hamas and Hezbollah members say not only did Iran help plan for months, they gave the official green light in Beirut last week,” Blackburn wrote in a post on Twitter/X.
“The United States should not be sending a single penny to Iran — let alone $6 billion.
“I am immediately calling on Biden to reverse course and cancel the ransom agreement.”

In her thread on X, Blackburn cited a Wall Street Journal article that said that Iran helped to plot the deadly attacks against Israel.
Pennsylvania Senate Republican candidate Dave McCormick echoed Blackburn’s statement.
“The Biden Administration insists ‘not a penny’ of the $6 billion they promised to Iran has yet to be received by Iran,” McCormick said.
“Given the Hamas attack on Israel, I call on President Biden to block release of the money, and as Senator, I would immediately introduce legislation to put a hold on these funds.
“Don’t give Iran a penny.”

On Monday, President Donald Trump said that the Biden admin’s agreement to transfer $6 billion to Iran is responsible for the terror attack in Israel.
“This war happened for three reasons: the allowing by the Biden administration of Iran to sell massive amounts of oil and making $60 billion dollars; the United States giving Iran $6 billion dollars ransom; and our country’s perceived weakness with an incompetent and corrupt leader, Joe Biden, who’s laughed at all over the world,” Trump said.
