President Donald Trump is crushing Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in the favorability rating, new polling shows.
To say McConnell is unpopular would be a massive understatement.
For many, McConnell is a direct representation of the idea of the Washington D.C. establishment swamp.
One only needs to glance at the latest polls to see why McConnell is polling so poorly.
Meanwhile, Trump and other “America First” politicians are trouncing McConnell’s approval numbers.
According to Breitbart, a recent Morning Consult poll revealed that Trump’s popularity among Republican voters is breathtakingly higher than McConnell’s.
McConnell, who many believe should retire before his health worsens, has promised to leave his Senate leadership role.
However, he will not be leaving the Senate entirely.
The poll proved how wildly unpopular McConnell’s brand of Republican politics is with his own party.
Trump scored a favorability rating of 76% — an impressive number without a doubt.
The 45th president has a massive base of support, and such a number makes that extremely evident.
In contrast, McConnell, who oftentimes defines the term “RINO” (Republican In Name Only), only managed to garner a 33% favorability rating.
Trump also performed well in the unfavorability category, scoring just 17%.
Again, in contrast, McConnell’s unfavorability rating came in at an embarrassing 44%.
In the wake of several humiliating incidents involving the Senate leader’s health issues, including multiple moments of “freezing” while talking behind the podium on camera, McConnell finally agreed to step down from his top leadership spot.
However, he recently made it clear that he’s not done serving in the upper chamber and vowed to remain a senator.
“I’m not leaving the Senate,” McConnell said.
“I’m particularly involved in actually fighting back against the isolationist movement in my own party.
“And the symbol of that lately is, ‘Are we gonna help Ukraine or not?’”
Breitbart pointed out that McConnell’s leadership in the Senate hasn’t exactly been great for Americans:
“Under McConnell’s leadership, the national debt rose more than $30 trillion, illegal immigration continued, and real wages for American workers remained stagnant.
“Furthermore, big banks were bailed out in 2008, Obamacare was enacted in 2010, and social media companies silenced individuals without repercussions.”
One has to wonder what McConnell thinks when he’s told about his numbers.
