Fox News Boycott: Viewership Plummets after Tucker Carlson Firing

Fox News’s viewership has plummeted after news broke that the network fired its star anchor Tucker Carlson.

Fox announced Monday that the network had “agreed to part ways” with Carlson.

However, it emerged shortly after that Fox boss Rupert Murdoch personally gave the order for Carlson’s firing.

In the wake of Carlson’s exit, Slay News reported that calls to boycott Fox over the move were rapidly spreading on social media.

People were taking to Twitter to announce they had canceled their Fox Nation streaming subscription and that they refused to watch the cable news network anymore.

Carlson was Fox’s biggest ratings draw and news of his departure almost immediately impacted the company’s stock value.

Fox Corp. lost one billion dollars in value following the news.

But the bloodbath didn’t end there.

When Fox announced Carlson’s exit, the network revealed that, from Monday, his slot would be filled by other hosts until a more permanent replacement was found.

However, the numbers are in and Fox News has now lost almost half of its audience at Carlson’s 8 PM time slot.

Carlson’s show was averaging 3.2 million viewers.

On Tuesday Fox News had just 1.7 million viewers at 8 PM.

According to Mediaite, Fox News placed third behind CNN and MSNBC in the coveted 25-54 age demographic for the timeslot.

This comes after Carlson’s show was beating the combined audience of rival shows on CNN and MSNBC.
