Republican former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has weighed in on the debate over who the Democrats could nominate in 2024.
Gingrich was commenting on the matter as rumors swirl that President Donald Trump may soon officially enter the race.
Democrat President Joe Biden is facing pushback over his potential plans for reelection, even from within his own party.
Some have suggested that Vice President Kamala Harris could replace Biden on the 2024 ticket.
However, Gingrich highlighted one key issue with Harris that could scupper her chances.
He went on Fox & Friends Monday to talk about a recent Washington Post article ranking the top 2024 Democratic contenders.
According to the article, Biden is first, but second is not Harris, who is ranked third.
The Post claims Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg is the second favorite.
It is a weak field by anyone’s definition and Gingrich knows why Kamala is dropping down the list.
Gingrich explained that Harris has no chance and gave an interesting reason why.
“Harris has one enormous challenge,” Gingrich said.
“Her laugh is really weird.
“I know that sounds petty, but, as human beings go, you watch her for a while, you just think she can’t possibly be president.”
Gingrich said of Biden earlier:
“Biden is largely out of touch with reality.
“He is captured by the hard left.
“I think that Congressman Mullen said it exactly right.
“What kind of an American president skips Oklahoma, Texas, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio in order to go to Venezuela or Iran, Saudi Arabia to get oil, which hurts America in every way.
“What kind of an American president would take the American Strategic Oil Reserve send a million barrels of oil to a Chinese company?
“Biden is essentially a creature of a machine and I don’t know how cognitively clever he is, but it seems clear he memorizes a handful of things.
“He repeats some maniacally, and he gets mad at you as you saw in that picture.
“He gets mad at you,” he said.
